The Help — You will laugh, cry, enjoy every moment and every scene of what is most definitely the best movie of the year!
This endearing film takes you back to the past to give you a glimpse of the turmoil black women in the south still faced even after slavery was abolished. With a cast full of amazing actresses, each scene came alive as the personality of each character emotionally involved you in this movie.
It is one of the most heartfelt movies I have seen in years! Scene after scene, I was pulled into this movie by the depth of each character. The movies’ quick witted humor combined with the teary eyed scenes of the painful reality of the abhorrent ways that black women were stuck in situations that were wretchedly unending.
“The Help” is based on the critically acclaimed No. 1 New York Times best-selling debut novel by Kathryn Stocket. The courageous characters in this film set about creating a change in their circumstances, and set the stage for many unequally treated black women to speak out even when it was dangerous and unexpected. The character “Skeeter” in the film was monumental in letting the voices of these black women be heard. As a journalist, she set out to tell a story that had never been told and by doing so changed the life of so many!
So, what are you waiting for? Call a friend and head to see The Help — you will not regret it!
