Also, to make our travel comfortable it’s important to wear clothes that suit a particular region’s climate, activities, and cultural practices.

Here are 5 incredible dream travel destinations and the clothes

you must have for them

  • Bhutan – Forget your worries and feel content in this Himalayan kingdom.

One of the less-visited places in Asia, 60 percent of Bhutan’s land is under forest cover. Paro, a historic, valley town in Bhutan, is the location of the country’s international airport. Interestingly, the descent into the airport includes a breathtaking view of the impressive Mount Everest itself.

Among the many sacred sites and historical buildings here, are the relics of a 17th-century defensive citadel called Drukgyel Dzong. Another 17th-century monument, Paro Taktsang, also known as the Tiger’s Nest, is one of over forty beautiful monasteries in the region.

For a sense of luxury, visit Amankora, a 5 lodge resort in the capital city of Thimphu, surrounded by glacial valleys, blue pine forests, and Himalayan peaks.

While in Bhutan, indulge in various activities like doing yoga, shopping in large ancient markets, and hiking through trails amidst striking mountain passes and dense valleys. Bhutan also holds Tshechu or monthly religious festivals, their focal point being religious mask dances.

With regard to food, local Bhutanese cuisine is known to be spicy. So,  lovers of spicy foods can try some of the local cuisines at the weekend market. For the others, momos are a good option.

The possibility of a chance to see the King of Bhutan adds a royal touch to your trip!

Except for the summer months, make sure to wear warm clothing such as woolen sweaters. In summer, prefer heavy cotton and lightweight woolens. Overall, go for layered clothing in order to adapt to a wide range of temperatures from day to night, owing to the altitudinal differences in the country.

Dress modestly while visiting religious shrines. In this regard, men can go for slacks, and women can wear longer length skirts. Cover the shoulders when you are inside religious buildings.

  • India

Whether you have a thing for nature, history, food, or adventure, a tour to India completes everybody’s dream! India’s favorable climatic conditions, hospitality among the locals, and breathtaking natural scenery attract millions of tourists every year from all over the globe.

India is the land of beautiful monuments, marvelous palaces, gorgeous beaches, tiger safaris, shimmering deserts, snow-capped mountains, and calm backwaters. To name a few tourist attractions, there’s the mesmerizing Taj Mahal, the Khajuraho Temple and the India Gate (in the capital city of New Delhi).

Coming to wildlife, India houses approximately 80 national parks and innumerable protected forests. You can also stay comfortably inside the jungle premises as they house several jungle resorts.

If you are seeking fun through adventurous sports, then visit mountainous regions like Gulmarg, Srinagar, Leh, and Ladakh. Indulge here in mountain riding on a Suzuki, river rafting, and skiing.

Choose your clothes according to the period of the year you are traveling here. In the country’s summer months (March – June), wear light cotton clothes. Pants, full-sleeved shirts, and t-shirts, all made of cotton, fit the bill. Don’t forget your sunhat.

On the other hand, for Indian winters (October-February), pack some warm woolens. Also carry some thermal underwear, especially if you are planning to roam around Northern India, which has severe winters.

It’s advisable to wear light woolen clothes if you have trekking plans.

  • Antarctica

With the constant threat of global warming looming over the planet, now is the time to take a trip to the world’s coldest and most faraway landscape. Travel to Antarctica simply for the polar wildlife such as penguins, seals, the rare albatross and the polar bear. Else, complete your dream of arriving at the seventh and last continent, by crossing the heaving Antarctic Ocean and landing in the infinite, white wilderness of the South Pole.

A group tour is the best way to get to Antarctica. In fact, The International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO) conducts different types of tours, in order to suit diverse travel styles and to provide varied experiences. The tour operators combine your transportation, meals and accommodation on your ship itself. This way, by not building any infrastructure ashore, they protect Antarctica’s delicate environment. Aboard the ship, you get to attend lectures by Antarctic experts, see wildlife videos, and watch for seabirds.

The most significant activity for most Antarctic tourists is to land on the shore in engine-powered, shallow-draft boats, called “Zodiacs”. While inside the Zodiacs, you can visit scientific research stations, historic sites and also cruise through fields of gorgeous icebergs. For adventurous activities, you have options like scuba diving, and rock- or ice-climbing.

Under the guidance of the travel leads, you can kayak past icebergs, and stroll on penguin beaches.

The best time to visit Antarctica is only during the summer, i.e. from November through March. Antarctic winters are extremely cold and dark for most people’s taste.

For the most appropriate clothing, focus on warm base layers, either silk or wool. Lightweight and good-quality waterproof pants are essential for your trip as they’d help you deal with the wet and icy land. For instance, in Paradise Bay, you can slide down a snowy hillside. Also, you can sit on the ice comfortably while taking photographs. Make sure to wear the pants over a warm insulating base layer. Also, don’t forget to carry waterproof gloves, a hat that must cover your ears, and a woolen scarf.

The tour operator will provide you with a bright-colored, fur-lined hooded jacket, as you get into the Zodiac for the shore.

Aboard the cruise ship, dress in comfortable clothing. Make sure you have really nice clothing for the Captain’s Welcome Dinner.

Men could go for something formal such as a suit and tie, or smart casual attire such as pants and open-neck shirts.

For women, a duo of comfort and chic, like beautiful maxi split dresses, should go with dinner and dancing. So, leave your formal evening gowns at home and pack such modern outfits for the special event.

  • Jordan-

A popular Arab country, Jordan offers plenty of tourist hotspots. Also, the food you get here is exceptionally tasty. A blend of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean influences, the traditional Jordanian meal comprises hummus, roasted meat, yoghurt, spices, and rice. Welcoming locals make your stay even more pleasurable.

Jordan’s capital city, Amman is one of the world’s best-preserved Roman cities outside Rome. One of the key attractions here is the Roman Amphitheater.

Another ancient city, known as Petra, is Jordan’s most precious treasure and a UNESCO World Heritage site. This city is built of rose-colored stone and has myriad structures carved out of sandstone. Of all these structures, the most popular one is the Al-Khazneh temple (The Treasury).

If you want to enjoy a stay in the desert, then the protected site of Wadi Rum is an ideal choice. How about putting up at a luxurious Bedouin camp under the stars and surrounded by majestic sand dunes and mountains? Thanks to the unusual terrain and color of Wadi Rum desert, it is often used as the shooting location for movie scenes to represent other planets.

As for the seas, Jordan has two of the world’s most amazing ones – the Dead Sea and the Red Sea.

The Dead Sea, which is the lowest place on earth, lets you float easily (without floaties) on its surface. Slather yourself in the sea’s medicinal mud.

The Red Sea’s warm waters are home to plenty of beautiful coral reefs. This sea is ideal for deep sea diving and swimming through the corals.

For clothing, since Jordan has a hot and dry climate, a wide-brimmed hat or a headscarf for protecting your entire head is a must.

Overall, Jordan is a conservative country. So, when you are traveling here, choose your clothes carefully. Carry a pair of lightweight, breathable, linen pants and avoid wearing shorts. Choose T-shirts with long sleeves over tank or halter tops.

For the chilly desert nights, like those in Wadi Rum, wear a lightweight jacket or sweater and use gloves and warm socks. Use two lightweight tops to layer for extra warmth.

You don’t want to leave Jordan without having a dip, especially in the Dead Sea. So, make sure to carry your swimwear here.

  • East Africa

If you want to experience the beauty of the animal kingdom closer than you ever imagined, then East Africa is your spot. Game viewing is at its prime during the dry season (from December to March).

Normally, the international airport of the Kenyan capital city of Nairobi is the point of entry for several countries in East Africa. For accommodation, you can choose between several options, such as alluring hotels and tented safari camps.

The Serengeti National Park in Tanzania is famous for the seasonally-driven migration of wildebeest and zebra. If you take a safari in the month of February, during the calving season, then you’d most certainly see predators such as lions, leopards and hyenas in action and experience plenty of drama.

If you have a keen interest in birdlife, then Lake Nakuru is at its peak in the months of January and February. Take in spectacular views of hundreds of thousands of flamingos gathering at this lake, thus creating a large pink-colored mass.

While packing clothing, put your pair of jeans away because it’s hot and sweaty here. Loose, cotton t-shirts and cotton trousers or shorts are a safe bet. While on a safari, wear neutral colors and avoid bright, bold ones. Camouflage clothing is a strict no-no. Make sure to wear a wide-brimmed hat in order to protect the entire head. Also, keep a rain jacket handy.
