Just a 1.5-hour drive from San Diego is a great getaway for the day spa called Glen Ivy Hot Springs, located in Corona, CA. Everyone could use a day of pampering every now and again and what better way to do that than to spend a day by yourself or with a friend at a luxurious spa. If you decide to make a trip here are 5 ways to get the most out of your day at Glen Ivy.
Taking the Waters
After checking in and placing your personal items in a locker they provide. You may want to stop at the desk just outside the lockers and grab yourself a luxurious and comfy robe. ($15 rental fee, but worth it!) and put your credit card on file so that you don’t have to carry anything around, just give your phone number any time you want to purchase something. Then relax and soak in one of the many pools at Glen Ivy. You have a multitude of choices and I suggest you try them all.
Cold and Hot Plunge Pool
One of my favorite spots at Glen Ivy. There is something a bit adrenaline pumping about getting all warmed up in a hot jacuzzi and then jumping into an icy cold pool. For maximum benefit, it’s suggested you do this 5 times in a row, which is just what I did. It took some getting used to at first, but the second time and after was pure fun.
Benefits: Stimulates blood circulation and reduces inflammation
Saline Pool
The Saline Pool is a cozy little spot with warm water and beautiful surroundings. A perfect pool to just relax and enjoy.
Benefits: Great for your skin, anti-stress properties, helps muscles and joints recover.
Vista Pool
This may be just an ordinary Jacuzzi, but there is nothing ordinary about the view you will have while soaking. Many people enjoy its secluded location.
Mineral Baths
Don’t let the smell of these sulfur baths turn you away. There is plenty of joy and relaxation to be had with this option. There are several more individual size pools which is a huge bonus for me. These pools are pretty popular, you may need to wait your turn but there is also a couple of larger pools that you can enjoy with others.
Benefits: There is a multitude of benefits for the sulfur mineral baths. Some which include, promotes blood circulation, can provide nourishment to your vital organs, and helps remove toxins from your body.
Dine at Ivy Kitchen
Ivy Kitchen, previously known as CAFÉ SOLÉ is a great spot to grab lunch. It offers a great selection of salads, pasta, paninis, and desserts. I chose their Meditteranean salad as I was looking for a low carb option and loved that it came with some of my favorites – olives, artichokes and sundried tomatoes. I sat out on their large balcony where you can order an alcoholic beverage at their bar. It was too early in the day for me. Lunch at Ivy Kitchen made my day at Glen Ivy feel even more like a day of pampering. The salad was outstanding and I couldn’t seem to put my fork down and grabbed every last morsel.
Take a Water Fitness Class
I have to admit, every time I’ve seen or heard about a Water Fitness Class I usually think “That looks way to easy”. I was wrong. I took the Aqua Fit Class and I felt it in my legs and arms days after. I loved the upbeat music and the fitness instructor had a charismatic charm that made the class feel entertaining and welcoming. This class can be adapted to all fitness levels. As they will show how to make each move a little more challenging if you feel up to it.
Sunbathe while grabbing a Smoothie or a Cocktail to sip on.
I found a great spot in the sun by the lounge pool, which is a great pool to just grab a floatie and lay back and let the water float you around while you relax and unwind. Afterwards, grab a Smoothie at The Chill Zone or a cocktail at the Paradise Bar and find a comfy lounge chair by the lounge pool. Get out your book you’ve been wanting to catch up on or take a little cat nap while soaking up the sun.
Book a Massage or Facial
I couldn’t wait until the end of the day when I knew I was going to be experiencing one of the massages they offer. I was not disappointed, the massage bed was warm and soft and my masseuse was friendly and professional. I felt very comfortable and enjoyed an incredible massage that focused on the areas I wanted to focus on most. As a bonus, they offered an exceptional foot scrub that felt amazing! I would definitely book another massage here again.
What to pack
- Sunglasses
- Sunhat
- Sunscreen
- Hair Tie
- Dry Clothes to Change in after
- You may want to bring a backup bathing suit if you choose to experience their mud-baths which I hear are amazing. I, unfortunately, did not bring a backup and didn’t want to walk around with mud on my bathing suit. To learn more about Glen Ivy Hot Springs or to book a spa day visit https://www.glenivy.com/
