Review: Coppertone

The kids are back to school and Summer is quickly coming to an end but just because the kids are out of the pool doesn’t mean that they do not need sunscreen. With practices starting for fall sports, it is easy for us to lay off and get a little lax when it comes to putting on the sunscreen. After suffering second degree burns on my legs during a soccer game a few years ago, I can tell you that I try to never forget to apply sunscreen on myself my little ones!

With that being said, my friends over at Coppertone sent me over some items for review. A wide array of different sunscreens. I have to say, my favorite to use on my little ones was the Coppertone Kids Sunscreen Stick, SPF 55.

I simply rub the stick across the parts of their face that I want protected from the sun. No more squirming and thinking I am going to get them in the eye! I like the fact that I can get close to their eyes since that is one of the areas that seem to get sunburned right away. It’s so quick to use and best of all I can carry it with me in my purse. I don’t have to wait for it to be absorbed and they can run off immediately!! It is great when accuracy is required – I like to use it all over their eyes and eyelids, on their ears, and close to their hairline. These are places that are difficult to protect in a mess-free manner if you are using lotion. The stick has a waxy consistency and leaves a residue behind wherever you rub it so that you know EXACTLY where you’re placing the sunblock – there’s no guessing and no need to cross fingers to make certain a particular area is protected.

It is a definite plus if you have to carry sunblock with you for re-application, or even travel. It’s extremely lightweight, and since it isn’t a liquid, it does not leak at all. It’s ideal for carrying in purses or pockets, seems to last a bit longer than lotion-type sunblocks, and is also great for mess-free quick touch-ups. It is water resistant for 80 minutes and is fragrance-free and PABA free.

I would only recommend this for the face, as it is a small stick (about 3/4″ in diameter), and coverage of the body would probably take a very long time. For myself, I tried the Coppertone Oil Free Faces Sunscreen Lotion in SPF 30 and I felt that it worked great. I loved the fact that it was fragrance-free and oil free and most of all hypoallergenic. It also is water resistant for up to 80 minutes.

The Coppertone Sport Sunscreen Lotion in SPF 30 is a must have for those with kids active in sports. My kids all play soccer and this product has given my kids that extra added protection they need when they are out on the field playing in the sun all day.  I feel safer knowing that even perspiration will not affect the protection this sunblock provides.

Coppertone Sunblock Lotion in SPF 50 is a great choice for your little ones.  The extra SPF makes me feel reassured that make kids are getting the right protection from the sun.  This lotion is a great option for the beach as it is water resistant and will still on even after your kids have made their splashes in the waves.

Best of all, all the sunscreens they sent to me were all TSA Approved in 3 oz or less. They are all available at most major retailers and the travel sized lotions have a suggested retail of $3.99 which is such a great price for piece of mind.

Coppertone definitely did make the Sunscreen Grade A+
