Introduction: The Struggle of New Beginnings

Okay, so picture this: you’re a parent, and your kiddo’s giving you that classic side-eye. Why? Because you’ve dared to introduce something new—like a mysterious veggie on their plate or a bedtime routine switcheroo. Yep, the resistance is real. But guess what? Rhonda Fischer’s got our back. Her book, Randy Kazandy, Where Are Your Glasses?, dives headfirst into this universal parenting tango.

The Plot Unfolds: Randy’s Eyewear Odyssey

Meet Randy—a spunky kid whose eyesight decides to do a little cha-cha. Enter: glasses. But here’s the twist—slipping those frames on isn’t as easy as grabbing a cookie. Randy’s got self-image issues, and he’s trying to ditch those specs like a secret agent dodging lasers. Sneaky, right? But guess who’s always one step ahead? His mom. She’s got a secret stash of backup glasses, like a superhero with a glasses cape.

Now, the comedy kicks in. Randy’s all, “Mom, I’m done with these. No more!” And she’s all zen, swapping out frames like a pro. It’s like a glasses fashion show. But just when Randy thinks he’s won the battle, enter the friendly eye doctor. Cue the drumroll! 🥁 What’s the surprise gift? I won’t spill the herbal tea (or the beans). You’ve gotta read it yourself. Spoiler alert: it’s heartwarming, like a fuzzy blanket on a chilly day.

In Summary: A Must-Read for Curious Minds Randy Kazandy isn’t just a book; it’s a treasure chest. Imagine opening it and finding a map to your own adventures. So go ahead, channel your inner mermaid or woodland explorer. Who knows? Maybe clarity—like a hidden gem—comes from those quirky glasses.

About the Author

Rhonda Fischer lives in Santa Margarita, CA. She is a writer, musician, and educator. She wrote this book based on a real life experience. Her brother-in-law having been born cross-eyed had to wear corrective lenses at the age of 17 months. He tried to get out of wearing his glasses and had hard time accepting them. It took Rhonda 12 years to write this book and get it published.

Some of the excellent praise for this book:

Brilliantly Randy Kazandy conquers the fears and inhibitions that wearing glasses might create for a child. The book ends triumphantly with the raising of the child’s self esteem as he is able to see a whole new world through his wonderful new glasses!

Beverly Spencer, MS, Southern California College of Optometry, Director of External Clinical Relations

It is so refreshing to have Randy Kazandy, a character with flaws and doubts kids can relate to. With colorful graphics and musically metered prose, Randy captures the reader with an uplifting message of overcoming obstacles. Way to go Randy!

Bob Estrin, Manhattan School of Music, Indiana University. Founder/Composer, Living Piano.

A delightful, compelling story! Its moral makes parenting and childhood a little easier especially involving those with obstacles, whether big or small. Looking for hidden glasses throughout the book is a delight for kids.

Dr Douglas Mazzuca E DO, Mazzuca Eye & Laser Centers

In rhythmic, rhyming verse, Rhonda Fischer tells the story of Randy Kazandy, a boy who needs glasses but sure doesn’t want them! Children will delight in the amusing antics of Randy as he tries to get rid of his glasses in the most peculiar ways until he finally finds the very best place for them. A great read for students with–and without–glasses.
