I have had a wonderful opportunity to review Brandi Carlile new cd “Give Up The Ghost”. This was my first time hearing Brandi Carlile and I must say I amazed that I have never heard her music before. She has an amazing talent, and her music is very thought provoking.
“To give up the ghost is not just to die since we do it a handful of times throughout our lives. It’s a sort of leaving yourself behind,” she explains. “Or what you knew yourself to be so that you can grow and transcend love or youth. Sometimes both.”
During the recording of this album Brandi got the chance to work with great artist like Elton John and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, both contributed to her album.
This album was a bit of change from her previous two albums as it works on more emotional and raw topics. I really enjoyed the lyrics of this album and I found one of those albums you could listen to over and over.
She really does have a Patsy Cline type of voice and her music reminds me a bit of some of the old classic country songs with an up to date vibe. This is a great music choice for those who have been waiting for something a little different but familiar to come along.

oh man, its hard to say what my favorite song is, i love her first album the best, but there are amazing songs on The Story as well. I am a big fan of hers. Glad you found her, so worth it! Lets see…maybe Josephine or Wasted, i love them all!
